Randomness

So I am going to try this again. Just when I got started blogging, we started an awful, heart-wrenching, physically painful, month-long miscarriage losing our precious third child. I wasn't too much in the mood to maintain this, so I took a hiatus. We are now considering doing our second round of InVitro Fertilization in early 2009, so maybe we will add another Breslin to our loving household this time next year :) Only God knows the answer to that, but hopefully he will let us in on his plan early next year! Thanks to all of our family and friends who supported us through these trying times, whether with a shoulder to cry on, a warm body to love on the two wonderful kids we have now while we were at doctor appointments or the hospital, by bringing a meal over to us, or simply taking the time to pray for our family. We love you all dearly!!!!

So today I got a blog challenge from a great friend and fellow blogger....Thanks Katherine for making me do this again...although I will never be as witty or clever as you or Natalie, so probably won't be that fun to read :) Katherine wrote: To inspire you to try this again, you've been tagged to write 6 random things about you! Have fun....
So here goes:
1. Cookies...I normally don't crave sweets, but today, I was really wanting some chocolate chip cookie dough. (Ladies I am sure you can understand why). Option 1. Go for ice cream after dinner if Brian got home from work early enough. I nixed this idea because he didn't get home til 6:30 (Tyler goes to bed at 7), and it felt like a hassle to go out with the kids for some reason (reason being I am a major party pooper and have been going to bed at 8 pm these days...so sad). Option 2. Make a HUGE deal to Alexa about making cookies so she and I could just eat the dough :) Option 2 won, except she really really really really wanted sugar cookies....Please don't ask how I got around this one....guilty parenting story would follow :) WE ENJOYED OUR COOKIE DOUGH TONIGHT!!! YIPPEEE!
2. Jeans... I have a jean fetish. But I really don't feed into it much, but once I find a pair or two that I love, I want to wear them EVERYDAY :) So I have been on a massive kick of only buying things for myself that are on sale, or I somehow get a good deal on. Killing time yesterday, I found what are now my second favorite pair of jeans at a resale shop for a whopping $7.50 :) Gotta love that one! Yep, I am cheap, but at least my butt looks good for now :)
3. Thrift stores...My new obsession, possibly. Talk about deals and being cheap. I got gifts for my kids' Christmas for less than $3 a piece (is that pathetic? I don't know, but...). A big Army truck for $1.99, a smaller digger truck for a whopping $.39, a Fisher Price Robot for $3.29 (new was $199...crazy deal, don't ask me if it works though, haven't tried it out yet..hehe), a Princess Areiel make-up/hair doll for $1.99, etc etc. BUT, can you believe someone tried to steal the Areiel doll 3 different times out of my basket? Thought I was gonna have to kick some butt in the Frisco Resale Shop...now that would be random.
4. Running. Speaking of kicking butt. I am a big time runner. Since Tyler was born, in the last year, I have run 7 Half Marathons and 1 Full Marathon. But I hadn't run anything since June 1 in the San Diego Marathon. During the miscarriage, I have become anemic (6 months - a year to recover from that...nasty). So running has not been fun. It has sucked. Every single training run. I was kicking myself for signing up for the Inaugural Rock n Roll San Antonio Half Marathon. But I did it AND kicked butt at it. I had my best official Half Marathon time at 1:58:29, and had my best run since marathon training in the Spring. I rocked it for sure :)
5. Cyber friend become reality. For the San Antonio race, Brian, the kids. and I stayed in Austin with someone we had never met in person before. We stayed with my friend Brandy whom I have known for 2+ years on-line through an infertility support group. She and I have certainly walked the same, sometimes very sad and sometimes miracuously happy, roads together through this journey our lives. We have posted online almost everyday about life and where it may have taken us that day, that hour, that week, etc. We had talked on the phone several times a week for the last 3 months, and we decided to have a weekend visit with them last week when we drove down south. Let me just say, the weekend with her and her family was AWESOME. I am so thankful for all of our friends on the board and can't wait to meet the rest of them...NYC here we come, well when it gets warmer :)
6. Melatonin. My new best friend at night. I don't go to bed without it. I LOVE it. I don't leave home overnight without it. It is my security blanket (Well, sorta...I really do still have one of those too...no, not the same one I had as a young child, it has changed and got bigger throughout the years. It is actually a big, soft, yummy to roll up in Texas Longhorns blanket that I got for Brian for his birthday...sorry honey, you have never gotten to use it. Thanks for loving me through all my issues though :). But the Melatonin is the best thing ever. If you are having sleeping issues, please talk to me. This stuff has saved my life :)

Ok, hope that was random enough, and not too boring for you guys. Did I do ok Katherine? Love ya'll. Nite :)
